Friday, March 22, 2024The City of Turlock reveals the new Pedretti Park Lights
TURLOCK, CA - The City of Turlock will host a lighting ceremony on Thursday, March 28th to reveal the brand-new LED lights now illuminating Pedretti Park installed as a part of the Pedretti Park Lighting Improvement Project. Attendees will learn about the improvements from various community stakeholders and have the opportunity to watch a game on one of the five fields. The fields at Pedretti Park are used daily from February through November for programs like City league softball, Turlock Little League, Turlock Christian School’s sports teams, and more. The facility also hosts over 40 softball and baseball tournaments yearly that draw visitors to Turlock from the surrounding region and even out-of-state.
In the early 1980’s, metal halide lighting was installed. This type of lighting no longer met the recommended lighting levels for current tournament play and needed to be replaced. In September of 2023, Turlock City Council approved an agreement with Sfadia Inc. dba Green Energy Innovations of Buena Park for the construction of City Project No. 21-044 "Pedretti Park Lighting Improvements." The scope of work included replacing the existing metal halide lights with LED lights on all five fields, all existing aging wiring, and one damaged pole foundation. The new LED lighting is over 50% brighter which meets current recommended tournament lighting levels while saving over 25% in yearly energy usage.
