PRESS RELEASE: Illegal Cannabis Cultivation

TURLOCK, CA – In February 2024, the Turlock Police Special Investigations Unit
began an investigation regarding a sophisticated illegal black-market cannabis
cultivation operation. The investigation revealed multiple addresses affiliated with the
target location with five (5) in the sheriff’s office jurisdiction, two (2) in the City of
Turlock, and one (1) in the City of Ceres. The Turlock Police Department partnered with
the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, Merced County Sheriff’s Office, Ceres Police
Department, Modesto Police Department, the Bureau of Cannabis Control, and the
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the execution of these
search warrants.
On March 26, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Turlock S.W.A.T. and our allied
agencies began the service of the search warrants in the following locations: 6400 block
of West Main Street (Turlock), 700 block of North Faith Home Road (Turlock), 4900
block of South Prairie Flower Road (Turlock), 200 block of South Orange Street
(Turlock), and 1300 block of Hackett Road (Ceres). These warrants resulted in well
over 5,500 marijuana plants being seized, along with six (6) firearms recovered, one
being stolen. Brigit Oseguera, 29, Jose Solis-Macedo, 32, Virgilio Jimenez, 37, all from
Turlock were arrested and charged with multiple Health and Safety Code violations
related to marijuana cultivation. Steven Evans, 62, also from Turlock, was arrested and
booked for possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance while
armed, and Health and Safety Code violations.
Additional charges and suspects are likely to be forthcoming.

Office, Merced County Sheriff’s Office, Ceres Police Department, Modesto Police
Department, and the Bureau of Cannabis Control, and the California Department of
Corrections and Rehabilitation for their assistance and commitment to keeping our
communities safe.
